Paid Mentorship and
Train-to-Hire Programming:

Supporting, elevating and advocating for emerging talent is the foundation of our approach, and key to empowering curious, aspiring, and emerging BIPOC talent with tangible opportunities and active allyship. Programs include:

 

  • Director/Cinematographer Development: 

    This program pairs emerging talent with established directors/DPs to direct/shoot broadcast campaigns, funded in partnership with Agencies and their Clients. The goal is to create full-up commercials for recognizable brands while developing unrepresented directors and their reels so they are better equipped to compete in the field. 

  • Director/Cinematographer Observer: 

    This program is focused on introducing aspiring and emerging talent to the many facets of commercial production with the opportunity to observe the process for the duration of a project, alongside established directors/cinematographers.

  • On-Set Technician Training and Placement:

    Train-to-hire/apprenticeship positions (with a current focus on grip and electric departments)

  • Apprenticeship Facilitating:

    Connecting potential talent with existing programs focused on paid internships in all aspects of commercial production from casting to production managing to executive producing.

Educational Workshops

 

  • Without education and awareness, none of this work can be done. Working with DEI (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion) and community facilitators, Hire Higher provides customized workshops focused on anti-oppression frameworks and intercultural competency specific to the commercial production industry. From How to Be an Effective Mentor to Inclusivity in Casting, these seminars serve to engage and educate those committed to creating safe and respectful workplaces and fostering supportive alliship.

  • In partnership with BIPOC focused film organizations, Hire Higher supports, hosts and develops workshops and events focused on providing insight, education, and hands-on training.
